We are here in Danbury CT. Wilbur is still asleep, exhausted from having accomplished something Herculean. We are so grateful to have met him - his instincts and clear knowledge allowed us to seal the first gate, preventing Ithaqua from entering our world. We were right that Dunham's cottage was truly a gateway - looking through the artifact confirmed this.
After being assaulted in the library, we held our ground, killed two assailants, while one fled the scene. More importantly we were able to escape out the back before authorities could show up. At this point, our presence is unlikely to matter in the Arkham area any longer. We went directly from the library to the cottage and, arriving by boat and scaling the cliffside, we determined it was possible to burn the cottage, giving us time to seal the gate before it "regrew." The cottage/tree burned in a frightening moment of realization that the gate wouldn't stay closed for long.
Wilbur was convinced he could learn how to seal the gate if we located more information from Dunham. Having only his ramblings about time and space, we decided to head to his house in Stoneham. It was clear early on that the house was unoccupied and had been for some time. We entered the back door of the house and found it already rummaged through. Moving aside an area rug, we located a small hideaway, which we unlocked with a set of keys. Inside was a small metal box with another journal entry about time and artifacts. A folded up paper contained strange symbols and names, but one look at it and Wilbur indicated he knew now how to seal the gate.
We left and immediately went back to the cottage. While we guarded the area, Young performed a fascinating ceremony of chanting and magic - clearly Young's involvement in this was much greater than he had initially led on. Hours later, he collapsed in exhaustion but insisted he had closed the gate for good. We drove back to my place to rest but found a strange car in the driveway and chose instead to immediately head towards Virginia. We figured to rest on the way, acquire a map to find Rosewood Park once we reached the stateline. Two days of travel brought us to this Motel in Danbury and before we leave to go further south we have to determine how to locate this second gate. Perhaps renting a biplane and flying over the park. I know I have the means of performing the ritual to locate and identify a gate so perhaps that will work. I will talk with the rest of the group when they wake up.
